Season 1931–32 was the 55th season in which Dumbarton competed at a Scottish national level, entering the Scottish Football League for the 33rd time and the Scottish Cup for the 44th time. == Overview == Dumbarton finished 12th, out of 20, in the Second Division with 38 points - 17 behind champions East Stirling. In the Scottish Cup, Dumbarton were knocked out in the first round by Hamilton. Locally, Dumbarton retained the Dumbartonshire Cup, beating Vale Ocaba in the final over two legs. In addition to the competitive matches, 3 friendly ties were also played. It should also be noted that: - Donald Colman gave up his managerial post and Dumbarton would not appoint a replacement until 1939; and - the match against Montrose on 23rd January was Dumbarton's 1,000th Scottish League fixture.
